In our final History Club meeting Kevin brought in a bullet salvaged from the Aud. The Aud was intercepted in 1916 while trying to bring arms to aid the 1916 Rising. It had been disguised as a Norwegian ship and took a long route via Norway to evade British discovery. We observed how the bullet had lost any gunpowder through corrosion of the casing. Well done to all members this year for a very enjoyable Club. We had many interesting artefacts, fascinating family history and wide-ranging discussion of historic topics.
