Parents, you may start the REGISTRATION process here, but you can submit full Application Forms only from Oct 1st 2025 until Oct 21st 2025.

Enrolment for First Year

Important enrolment dates for First Year in the 2026 – 2027 academic year.

Open Night (in-person event): Wednesday, Oct 1st 2025 – ADMISSION BY TICKET ONLY (see above for details)

The Application Form will be available through the school website.

The school will accept completed Application Forms from: Wednesday, Oct 1st 2025

Closing date for accepting Application Forms for admission: 16:00 on Tuesday, Oct 21st 2025

Applicants will be notified in writing of the decision on their application.
This will be sent by email on Friday, November 7th 2025

School must receive acceptance of an offer of a place by 16:00 on Friday, November 14th 2025

Assessment Tests: Saturday 28th February 2026, two sessions (08.30 – 11.00 and 10.45 – 13.30)

How to Apply for a School Place in CBC Kilkenny

If you are interested in applying for a place in CBC Kilkenny for your son, then please read the information below.

It is important to know that the commencement of the Education (Admissions) Act 2018 has changed some aspects of applying to schools. It is no longer possible to apply several years in advance. A unique Application Form is produced each year and is available in late-September or early-October of the year PRIOR to the planned August of entry into second level school (ie, in September when your son has just commenced 6th Class of primary school).

Application Process for Admission into First Year

Admission Policy

Read the CBC Kilkenny Admission Policy. This policy outlines how the admission procedure works. It was formulated and ratified by the Board of Management, following consultation with the school partners. It has been approved by our trustees, the Edmund Rice Schools Trust (ERST). It is reviewed by the Board of Management on an annual basis.

Open Night

This year, the Open Night will take place on Wednesday, Oct 1st 2025.

Annual Admission Notice and Application Form

1. The Annual Admission Notice gives all relevant dates for the full application process pertaining to Sixth Class students for admission to CBC Kilkenny the following year.
2. The Annual Admission Notice will be available on the school website on September 1st 2025.
3. On Wednesday, 1st Oct 2025, CBC Kilkenny will host an Open Night for prospective students and their parents.
4. The relevant Application Form for admission to First Year Aug 2026 will be available from the school website online platform on Wednesday, October 1st 2025.
5. Completed Application Forms will be accepted during the time period specified in the Admission Notice. Application Forms submitted after 16.00 on Tuesday, Oct 21st 2025 will be treated as late applications.
6. You will receive an online acknowledgement of your application. If you do not receive an email acknowledgement, please contact the school office, office@cbskilkenny.ie. The school does not accept responsibility for Application Forms not received.
