Parents Council

Meetings

Our Parents Council meet on the second Tuesday of every month. The meetings are very informative, interactive, and last about an hour. Meetings are attended by the Principal and a Teacher representative. All parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate. It is a great way to get to know other parents and to keep abreast of what is going on in the school.

Who we are

The Parents Council is an integral part of our Community of Learners. It plays a very important role in the promotion of co-operation between home and school.

Being a member of the Council makes us more aware of what is happening in the school and hence we become more involved in our sons’ education and school life.

As a Council we do not interfere in the day to day running of the school where such responsibility rests with the school Principal but rather work to support the school and strengthen the bonds between home and school.

What we do

The Parents Council works with the Principal, staff and wider school community to build effective co-operation & partnership between home and school.

We also:

  • Organise Guest speakers on topics of interest to parents
  • Hold an Annual AGM in October
  • Arrange Fund Raising Events
  • Host a Meet & Greet for parents of incoming first year students
  • Facilitate a Senior Cycle Careers Events
  • Review School policies
  • Provide Student awards
  • How we operate

Our activities are funded by each family being asked to pay a yearly subscription of €5, which is collected by the Parents Council at the Parent Teacher meetings. All contributions are greatly appreciated and are used to fund the Council’s activities throughout the year.
