TY International Relations Club Visit to Dáil Éireann- Pics

Members of the TY International Relations Club recently visited Dáil Éireann at the kind invitation of TD John McGuinness. We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. McGuinness for taking the time to meet with us and for providing thoughtful and insightful answers to our questions about local & national politics, public service, and international affairs. During our visit, we were also grateful to David Coffey, our usher, who guided us through Leinster House. He brought us to the Seanad chamber, where students were warmly greeted, and facilitated our attendance at a live Dáil session, including witnessing a vote in progress. A highlight of Mr. Coffey’s tour was learning about a rare original copy of the 1916 Proclamation of the Irish Republic on display—a powerful artefact central to Ireland’s journey to independence. The day also included time to explore nearby cultural and historical attractions. Students enjoyed viewing Ireland’s largest LEGO model—an impressive recreation of the National Library—and an exhibition on WB Yeats. A stroll through St Stephen’s Green and the shopping centre offered a chance to browse second-hand books and vinyl records. Catching the city skyline from the front seats on the top deck of a double-decker bus added a fun and memorable finish to our visit to Dublin.
